After years of intensive research and development, TLC Kids was established in 2002 to address the need for high quality extra-curricular programmes for Hong Kong¡¦s International and Local Schools. Geoffrey Blaik (BA-Psychology; Sociology, Dip Ed¡VPrimary, M Ed), the founder and managing director of TLC Global Holding Limited, identified during his teaching and leadership experiences in Asia and Europe a strong need for a little more ¡¥TLC¡¦ in primary education.

Geoff believes that TLC Kids is just what Hong Kong children need to maintain an appropriate balance in their learning and personal development. This ¡¥balance¡¦ is the most critical element in child development. A balanced education enhances our children¡¦s potential and options as they develop as global citizens and can positively affect the rate of learning and conceptual development, particularly in the primary years.
What¡¦s ¡§TLC Kids¡¨ about?

At TLC, the core objective is to spark children¡¦s interest, bringing out their very best as we draw upon their natural curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. We believe that children learn best when they are happy, confident and motivated, so our initial objective is to ensure that every child develops these attributes as a strong foundation to build on. The TLC-way espouses a more holistic approach to extra-curricular learning where the child is appreciated, respected and empowered in the learning process. They are regularly given opportunities to enquire, experience, and explore, finding understanding through meaningful and personally relevant learning experiences. We create a positive, dynamic learning environment which caters for students different learning styles.

Small group size as well as age & ability differentiated classes ensure that children are learning at an appropriate pace and level. We monitor children as they progress within each unit of study to ensure that they are placed in the most appropriate ability group. In this environment, children are given a high degree of individual attention and our ongoing monitoring mechanisms ensure that children are placed effectively.

Above all, it is the teachers that make the real difference. Our teachers focus on establishing quality relationships, through meaningful learning opportunities and interactions. Well-trained, qualified, passionate teachers, combined with quality programme content and frameworks, provide the ideal balance for real success in extra-curricular education.

We encourage parents to have an active role in their learning and use opportunities at home to discuss and reinforce what they have learned.
